For thousands of years towels have been around but the concept goes back to the cave people. They used to use the fur from animals and crushed skulls from their hunted prey which would then act as a form of after-shower absorbent, lovely!
Towels were initially invented thousands of years ago in a city called Bursa in Turkey. Originally the towels were all made of cotton or linen and then by the 18th century they were made with a central looped pile section.

Egyptian cotton towels are one of the most popular towels available too. If you choose much cheaper, low quality towels they have a tendency to lose their colour after just a couple of washes.
Try and remember to wash your towels at least once a week to wash away the bacteria and any dead skin cells that may be lurking. When you’ve finished using your towel, try and give it a good airing by hanging it over the banister to avoid it staying damp.
